Glycerin, a clear and syrup-like substance, may be synthetically and naturally derived from vegetable and animal by-products. It is found in:
- Shampoos
- conditioners
- soaps
- lotions
- toothpastes
But what is it doing in our toothpaste?
Toothpaste manufactures use glycerin as a moistener. It gives toothpaste its paste-like consistency. Sensodyne uses glycerin that may be either synthetic or animal-derived. Mentadent uses glycerin from animal by-products only. Crest is using synthetic glycerin, but older tubes may have animal products; tracing their source of glycerin is impossible.
